MOSCOW (Shahid Ghumman): Hundreds of residents, tourists, and paddleboarding enthusiasts gathered at Beach No. 3 in Moscow’s Serebryany Bor Park to take part in a colorful SUP (Stand Up Paddle) Festival held as part of the Moscow Transport Day celebrations.
Stand Up Paddle (SUP) is a popular water sport in which participants stand on a large board and use a paddle to move across the water. The sport has gained significant popularity around the world, including in Russia, over the past few years.
Participants completed a scenic 9-kilometer paddleboarding route, while many wore creative and eye-catching costumes in an effort to stand out. Some dressed as superheroes, cartoon characters and movie icons, while others appeared in traditional or humorous outfits, adding a festive atmosphere to the event. The best costumes were recognized and awarded during a special competition.
To ensure participants remained refreshed throughout the festival, food chains and event partners distributed free ice cream, drinking water and fresh fruit. Refreshment points were set up along the route, while medical teams and safety personnel remained on duty throughout the event.
The festival also featured family entertainment, children’s activities, interactive workshops and live music performances, attracting large crowds along the shoreline. Spectators cheered the paddleboarders as they made their way through the course, creating a lively and festive atmosphere.
Organized by the Moscow Transport Department, the event aimed to promote healthy lifestyles, water sports, environmentally friendly recreation and family-oriented outdoor activities. Representatives of local and international media were also present to cover the festival.
