Moscow : Russian President Vladimir Putin and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan have discussed key international and regional issues, including the situation in Ukraine, developments surrounding Iran, and the strengthening of Russia–UAE relations.
During the talks, President Putin expressed appreciation for the United Arab Emirates’ role in facilitating dialogue related to the Ukraine conflict. He particularly acknowledged Abu Dhabi’s support in humanitarian efforts, including prisoner exchanges and providing a platform for diplomatic contacts.
President Mohammed bin Zayed, in turn, thanked the Russian leadership for its cooperation in mediation efforts connected to prisoner-of-war exchanges, describing the issue as highly significant from a humanitarian perspective.
Addressing Middle Eastern affairs, President Putin reiterated Russia’s position that a sustainable peace in the region requires the establishment of a viable Palestinian state capable of living peacefully alongside Israel. He stressed that such an approach is essential for long-term stability. The Russian leader also noted that Moscow is closely monitoring developments related to Iran.
On bilateral cooperation, President Putin highlighted the steady expansion of economic ties between Russia and the UAE, pointing to growing trade volumes and several major initiatives, particularly in the energy sector. He described the UAE as one of Russia’s key trade partners in the Arab world and praised Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed’s personal role in advancing the strategic partnership.
