Moscow: The Kremlin has confirmed that US President Donald Trump personally requested Russian President Vladimir Putin to temporarily refrain from strikes on Kyiv until February 1, aiming to create a more favorable environment for diplomatic talks.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that the request was made directly by President Trump, who suggested a one-week pause in attacks to support ongoing negotiation efforts. However, Peskov did not specify whether Moscow had formally responded to the proposal.
“I have nothing more to add beyond what has already been stated,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
Earlier, President Trump stated that he had asked the Russian leader to halt strikes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities for a short period due to harsh winter conditions, adding that the request was made to facilitate dialogue.
