Moscow:(Voice of Russia) Russia has warned that any foreign military forces deployed in Ukraine in a way that interferes with Moscow’s military operation or obstructs efforts toward a lasting settlement would be regarded as legitimate military targets.
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Moscow considers the presence of such foreign contingents in Ukraine unacceptable.
She said Western governments would be responsible for any further escalation if they move ahead with steps that deepen their military involvement in the conflict.
Zakharova also referred to military exercises planned by the “Coalition of the Willing” in European Union countries bordering Ukraine in October and November.
According to her, the planned drills reflect growing involvement of European NATO members in the conflict.
She added that this approach is at odds with calls by the same countries for a negotiated settlement and their efforts to secure a role in future peace talks.
