Ukraine currently does not have access to the Starshield satellite communications system and the matter is under discussion, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday.
“Starlink is a commercial product and it is regulated and handled as a commercial product. Starshield is a defense product, a military product, and as I said, I mean it is something we have and the US military uses it. At this time it is not available to Ukraine, and it is under consideration. At this time there is discussion about how they would like to use it,” he told reporters before departing for Uzbekistan.
According to the foreign minister, Ukraine had asked for access to it “to carry out deep strikes inside Russia.” “They do not have access to it at this time,” he stressed.
