Rawalpindi (Voice of Russia): UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres met with Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at GHQ Rawalpindi.
According to ISPR, the meeting discussed matters of mutual interest, the regional security situation, and the UN’s role in promoting global peace.
The two leaders also exchanged views on regional stability, the Kashmir issue, India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, and terrorism emanating from Afghanistan.
The Field Marshal reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to international peace and highlighted the Pakistan Army’s contributions to UN peacekeeping missions.
He praised the UN’s role under the Secretary-General’s leadership in promoting peace, stability, and humanitarian values.
Antonio Guterres paid tribute to Pakistan and the Pakistan Army’s sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and in UN peacekeeping missions.
The Secretary-General appreciated Pakistan’s continued commitment to global peace and security and lauded efforts for peaceful resolution of regional conflicts.
