MOSCOW (Voice Of Russia): The Embassy of Pakistan in Moscow hosted a grand reception to celebrate Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day, bringing together around 250 guests, including senior Russian officials, members of the diplomatic corps, academia, media representatives and members of the Pakistani community.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin attended the reception as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia Faisal Niaz Tirmizi highlighted the growing warmth and momentum in Pakistan-Russia relations. He said there was significant potential to further expand bilateral cooperation in trade, connectivity, education, tourism and culture.
Ambassador Tirmizi also underlined Pakistan’s interest in the International North-South Transport Corridor, including the prospects of connecting the corridor with the Pakistani ports of Karachi and Gwadar. He stressed that stronger people-to-people contacts would play an important role in bringing Pakistan and Russia even closer.
Speaking on the occasion, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin warmly congratulated the people of Pakistan on their Independence Day and appreciated Islamabad’s role in regional and international affairs.
Galuzin particularly highlighted Pakistan’s mediation efforts during the recent Gulf crisis as well as its contribution at the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation. He also noted the expanding cooperation between Russia and Pakistan in trade, connectivity, industry, pharmaceuticals and education.
The celebrations were further enlivened by performances from internationally acclaimed Pakistani hyper-folk band Khumariyaan and Pride of Performance violinist Master Raees Khan, who received an enthusiastic response from the audience.
Russian officials, foreign diplomats and other guests also enjoyed Pakistani music and traditional cuisine, adding a distinctly Pakistani flavour to the evening.
The reception showcased Pakistan’s rich culture while also reflecting the steadily growing friendship and cooperation between Pakistan and Russia.
