Islamabad (voice Of Russia): A distinguished Pakistani academic and educational delegation has departed from Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad for Kazan, Russia, to participate in the Second Russia-Pakistan International Conference, scheduled to be held from May 12 to 17, 2026, on the sidelines of the Russia-Islamic World Kazan Forum 2026.
The conference, titled “The Evolution of Russia-Pakistan Relations in the Changing World Order,” is being jointly organized by Kazan Federal University (KFU), Russia, and the Federal Urdu University of Arts, Science and Technology (FUUAST), Islamabad, in collaboration with the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and the Consortium for Asia Pacific and Eurasian Studies (CAPES).
The Pakistani delegation comprises prominent scholars and representatives from leading universities and research institutions across the country, including:
- Professor Dr. Sajid Mahmood Shehzad, Vice Chancellor, Minhaj University
- Professor Dr. Ghazala Yasmin, Vice Chancellor, Women University Swabi
- Professor Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed, Former Vice Chancellor
- Rear Admiral (R) Syed Faisal Ali Shah, National Institute of Maritime Affairs (NIMA)
- Dr. Faisal Javed, Chairman, Department of International Relations and Mass Communication, FUUAST Islamabad, and focal person for the conference
In addition, several scholars, researchers, policy experts, and representatives from think tanks and academic institutions across Pakistan are also participating in the conference.
The event will bring together scholars, diplomats, policymakers, and researchers from Pakistan, Russia, and other countries to discuss key issues including geopolitics, Eurasian connectivity, regional security, economic cooperation, and cultural diplomacy.
Federal Minister for Public Affairs Rana Mubashir Iqbal will attend the opening ceremony as the chief guest, while Minister of State Talha Burki will participate as the guest of honor.

- Russian Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Albert P. Khorev
- Professor Dr. Zabta Khan Shinwari, Vice Chancellor, FUUAST
Experts believe the conference represents a significant step forward in strengthening academic diplomacy, educational cooperation, and people-to-people ties between Pakistan and Russia.
The conference follows the success of the first Russia-Pakistan International Conference held in Karachi in February 2025, which was widely regarded as a milestone in enhancing bilateral academic and research collaboration between the two countries.
