LISBON (Voice of Russia): Portugal’s world-famous footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has been fined 255 euros and suspended for 30 days by the Portuguese Football Federation for leaving the national team camp without permission.
The fine is extremely small compared with Ronaldo’s daily earnings, however British journalist Piers Morgan has offered to help pay the fine. Writing to Ronaldo on the social media platform X, Piers Morgan said he could help him with the payment of the fine.
Morgan has long been a close friend and admirer of the Portuguese star, and he also supported Ronaldo in the recent dispute with coach Jorge Jesus.
Interestingly, the fine is extremely small compared with Ronaldo’s annual income. According to Forbes estimates, the 41-year-old footballer earns about 300 million dollars a year including salary and commercial deals, while his basic annual salary from the Saudi club Al-Nassr is said to be about 208.4 million euros.
By calculation, Ronaldo earns an amount equal to the fine from his club salary in just 39 seconds.
Ronaldo will be able to play in Portugal’s matches against Denmark on 14 November and Wales on 17 November, because the ban, counted from 1 October, will end before the matches.
