Moscow: (Voice Of Russia) The Kremlin on Friday addressed Russia’s continuing military operations in Ukraine, possible high-level contacts with the United States and President Vladimir Putin’s upcoming schedule.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said there are currently no plans for a phone conversation between President Putin and US President Donald Trump.
He also said Putin did not meet CIA Director John Ratcliffe during his visit to Moscow, explaining that the contacts were handled directly between the intelligence services.
Speaking about the Ukraine conflict, Peskov said peace negotiations remain suspended and no new proposals have emerged.
According to him, Moscow believes Kiev is fully aware of Russia’s conditions but is unwilling to discuss them through diplomatic channels. He said Russia would therefore continue its military operation.
Peskov also pointed to what he described as continued Russian advances on the battlefield, saying the current momentum and its possible consequences are clear to military specialists.
Commenting on reports of a possible escalation, he dismissed such coverage in Western media as attempts to create alarm.
The Kremlin spokesman said Russian forces continue to carry out targeted strikes against military and military-related infrastructure in Ukraine.
On Putin’s schedule, Peskov said the Russian president is expected to speak with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Saturday.
Putin is also preparing for the Eastern Economic Forum and is due to visit Nizhny Novgorod on a working trip.
Preparations are also underway for his participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek, where several bilateral meetings are expected alongside the main SCO events.
