ISLAMABAD (Voice of Russia): The Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting has described the Afghan Taliban spokesman’s statement as misleading, saying that the Taliban government’s continued refusal to act against terrorism is the biggest obstacle to the restoration of normal relations.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, it was said that the recent tweet by the Afghan Taliban spokesman is clear proof of their misleading thinking and of not acknowledging the real cause of strained Pak-Afghan relations. According to the statement, the Taliban leadership is continuously blaming Islamabad’s policies, while deliberately ignoring terrorism emanating from Afghan soil.
The statement said that Pakistan’s position is unambiguous: terrorism is a red line and there will be no compromise on the protection of Pakistani citizens. The Afghan Taliban must understand that Pakistan will never tolerate terrorist sanctuaries across its borders that affect its security.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said that Pakistan reserves the right to take all necessary measures under international law to eliminate threats to its national security, and Kabul must acknowledge that the responsibility for dealing with these threats lies directly with the Afghan Taliban government.
In response to the Afghan Taliban spokesman, the Federal Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said that Pakistan’s commitment to protecting its people should never be taken as weakness, and the Taliban government’s continued refusal to act against terrorism is the biggest obstacle to the restoration of normal relations.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said that neither blame, hollow assurances nor questioning Pakistan’s policies will resolve the crisis, nor will Kabul be absolved of its responsibilities. The Afghan Taliban leadership should know that Pakistan’s security will not be sacrificed to their inaction, delaying tactics or wrong priorities.
