Moscow (Voice of Russia): A Moscow court fined the streaming service Twitch nearly 42 million rubles for violating Russian law, the press service of the capital’s courts of general jurisdiction reported on October 7.
It was clarified that Twitch was found guilty of committing offenses under Part 3 of Article 13.49 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offenses (“Failure to fulfill obligations stipulated by legislation regarding the activities of foreign persons in the Internet information and telecommunications network on the territory of the Russian Federation”).
Zoom Communications Inc. was charged with a similar offense. The company was fined almost 66 million rubles under the same article.
In September, Twitch was also fined 3.5 million rubles for refusing to monitor illegal content. TikTok and Pinterest were fined a similar amount under the same statute.
