MOSCOW (Shahid Ghumman) Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Abdel Hafiz Nofal has called for an international conference under the United Nations to stop the ongoing conflicts in Iran and Gaza.
In an interview with a Russian news agency TASS, he said that the world’s attention is currently focused mainly on Iran, while Israeli attacks on Gaza continue unabated. According to him, the situation in Gaza is extremely alarming and the humanitarian crisis is worsening.
He stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seeks to expand his influence across the Middle East and is receiving support from the United States in this regard.
The Palestinian ambassador stressed that the wars in both Iran and Gaza must be stopped immediately. He said an international conference under the UN platform could help find a diplomatic solution to the crisis.
Abdel Hafiz Nofal added that Russia, China and other countries should use their global influence to pressure the United States and Israel to halt military actions against Iran.
He also noted that the conflict in Iran is negatively affecting the situation surrounding Palestine and is further complicating the overall situation in the region.
Speaking about Gaza, he said the humanitarian situation there is extremely severe because Israel is obstructing the delivery of humanitarian aid.
According to him, Israel closed the Rafah crossing at the beginning of the escalation in Iran and has not reopened it since, creating serious difficulties in delivering aid to Gaza.
The Palestinian ambassador emphasized that the international community must take urgent steps and intensify diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East and help restore peace in the region.
