Shahid Ghumman — The Face of Pakistani Journalism in Russia

In the heart of Moscow, there is a Pakistani journalist who has not only kept the spirit of journalism alive but also worked tirelessly to project Pakistan’s identity and stance on the global stage. He is Shahid Ghumman — a name that resonates from the Russian Foreign Ministry’s press briefings to international forums, TV screens, and digital platforms for his journalistic insight and dedication.

Recently, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia, Muhammad Khalid Jamali, honored him with a shield in recognition of his journalistic services, with Consular Rana Muhammad Khalid Zia also present at the occasion. This honor is not just a ceremonial gesture but a continuation of a journalistic journey spanning nearly three decades, which began in 1996 with Daily Khabrain.

After serving eight years as a special correspondent for 92 News, he is now part of the prestigious Dunya Media Group. Along with reporting, he is also a columnist, anchor, and vlogger. Through his vlog “Travel with Ghumman”, he introduces audiences to Russia’s culture, beauty, and immigration laws, while also providing valuable awareness on important issues.

Shahid Ghumman is also the Chief Editor of VOR — Voice of Russia, further cementing his influence and leadership in Russian media circles while maintaining his commitment to Pakistani journalism.

His interview portfolio includes Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Information Minister Atta Tarar, Communications Minister Aliem Khan, Trade Minister Jam Kamal, several Pakistani ambassadors, the Ambassador of Palestine, and renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Muhammad Taqi Usmani.

Shahid Ghumman has reported from Russia’s most prominent international platforms, including the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, Kazan International Forum, World Food Moscow, Asia Expo Sochi, and the World Youth Festival Sochi. At the Russian Foreign Ministry’s weekly briefings, he has raised critical questions on Kashmir, Palestine, and Pakistan-Russia relations.

His commitment to the Kashmir cause is equally remarkable. Under the banner of Kashmir Alliance Forum Moscow, he has hosted nine online international Kashmir conferences, featuring leaders, diplomats, journalists, and politicians from around the globe.

Ghumman’s contributions have been recognized not only by Pakistan’s Embassy in Russia but also by Dr. Zahid Ali Khan, President of the Pakistan Trade House Russia; Malik Shehbaz, President of the Pakistan Community Russia; businessmen Dr. Tariq Chaudhry and Dr. Babar Islam; and Muhammad Asif Siddiqui, Director of the Pakistan Community in St. Petersburg. They have all honored him with appreciation certificates and shields over the years.

These accolades and achievements stand as testimony that Shahid Ghumman is not just a journalist — he is the voice of Pakistan in Russia. At every forum, he represents his homeland with dedication, bridging Pakistan with the world through his pen, his microphone, and his vision.
