London (Voice Of Russia) European countries are making a mistake by urging Ukraine to continue fighting against Russia, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with the British newspaper Financial Times.
Peskov stated that European governments are focusing their efforts on persuading Kiev to prolong the conflict rather than seeking a peaceful resolution.
“Unfortunately, Europeans are directing all their efforts toward convincing Ukrainians to continue the war. We believe Europeans are making a mistake in terms of their own future,” he said.
At the same time, the Kremlin spokesman noted that Russia believes it is achieving progress on the battlefield but remains open to diplomatic solutions.
“The dynamics on the front line are positive for us. We are advancing and moving closer to achieving our goals. But, as President Vladimir Putin has said, we remain open to a diplomatic settlement,” Peskov added.
