Moscow (Voice of Russia): Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation, H.E. Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, met with His Eminence Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Russian Orthodox Church, where discussions were held on promoting interfaith harmony and strengthening bilateral ties.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized that cooperation among different religions is essential for promoting global peace and unity.
Ambassador Tirmizi and Metropolitan Anthony also exchanged views on the shared values between Islam and Orthodox Christianity, particularly highlighting similarities in family structure, moral principles, and the upbringing of younger generations.
The Pakistani Ambassador appreciated Russia’s long-standing tradition of interfaith harmony, describing it as a successful model of peaceful coexistence, and commended the efforts of the Russian Orthodox Church in fostering this environment.
He noted that in the current global context, where the world is facing multiple challenges, interfaith dialogue has become a necessity to effectively promote global peace and unity.
