Moscow (Voice Of Russia): A prestigious ceremony was held at the Catherine Hall of the Kremlin where Russian boxing world champions and representatives of the Russian Boxing Federation were honored with state awards.
Addressing the ceremony, President Vladimir Putin said that the outstanding performances of Russian athletes reaffirm the country’s strong and stable position in global sports. He highlighted that both the men’s and women’s teams secured first place at the 2025 World Championships, marking a significant achievement.
The president criticized the former leadership of the International Olympic Committee, stating that discriminatory sanctions against Russian athletes were politically motivated and had undermined the core principles of the Olympic movement.
He expressed hope that the new leadership of international sports organizations would correct past mistakes and ensure that Russian athletes can compete under their national flag and anthem.
Putin also noted that Russia is gradually returning to the global sports arena with dignity, citing notable successes in various disciplines, including the Paralympics.
He praised young athletes for their performances and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to promoting sports, supporting youth development, and fostering a healthy society.
Concluding the ceremony, the president congratulated all award recipients and wished them continued success in their sporting careers.
