Moscow (Voice Of Russia): A fire that broke out in a residential building in central Moscow has been extinguished, leaving three people dead, according to Russia’s Emergencies Ministry.
The blaze occurred in the elevator hall and partially in the stairwell on the second floor of a nine-story residential building, spreading across an area of about 100 square meters.
Emergency responders evacuated 19 residents, including five children, from the building.
Earlier reports confirmed one fatality and five injuries, but two more victims later died while receiving medical treatment, raising the death toll to three.
A total of 86 personnel and 23 units of firefighting equipment were involved in extinguishing the blaze. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
