Moscow (Voice of Russia): Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the Ukrainian leadership is not ready to resolve the conflict through diplomacy, adding that Russia will continue pursuing its objectives on the battlefield.<\/p>\n
He made these remarks during a joint press conference following talks with Kenyan Foreign Minister Musalia Mudavadi. Lavrov also addressed the situation in the Middle East and the global repercussions of the conflict involving Iran.<\/p>\n
Lavrov stated that since 2022, Russia has remained committed to all agreements aimed at achieving a political and diplomatic resolution of the Ukraine crisis. However, according to him, the Ukrainian government has repeatedly sabotaged these agreements.<\/p>\n
He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly expressed readiness for a negotiated settlement, but since the authorities in Kiev are not prepared for talks, Russia is pursuing its goals through military operations on the ground.<\/p>\n
The Russian foreign minister also strongly criticized the European Union, saying the bloc has completely discredited itself and has played no constructive role in advancing negotiations on Ukraine. According to him, European countries are determined to continue supporting Ukraine\u2019s current leadership at any cost.<\/p>\n
Speaking about rising tensions involving Iran, Lavrov said the consequences of actions by the United States and Israel have extended beyond the Middle East and are now having global repercussions.<\/p>\n
He called on all parties to immediately halt actions that harm civilians and civilian infrastructure.<\/p>\n
Lavrov emphasized that Iran requires international security guarantees and said Russia is ready to play a mediating role in seeking a political solution to the crisis.<\/p>\n
The Russian foreign minister also noted that the recent escalation in the Middle East has pushed the Palestine issue into the background, stressing that the United Nations must take responsibility for implementing its decisions on the matter.<\/p>\n
According to Lavrov, Russia and Kenya agreed to expand cooperation in several areas, including energy, nuclear power, telecommunications, agriculture, mining and space technology.<\/p>\n
Both countries also discussed preparations for the upcoming Russia\u2013Africa Summit later this year and agreed to accelerate work on establishing a joint commission for economic cooperation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
