LONDON (Web Desk)\u00a0 Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said Pakistan joined the Board of Peace on Gaza after the approval of the federal cabinet and with the hope that there must be peace in Gaza.<\/p>\n

Talking to the media here on Saturday, the prime minister said Pakistan joined the Board of Peace with the hope of bringing peace in Palestine, stressing the board will rebuild Gaza and ensure peace in the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cPalestinians will get their rights with dignity and respect. President Donald Trump expressed best wishes for Pakistan. Davos trip was successful. Meeting with Managing Director (MD), International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina remained productive and the fund chief appreciated the economic reforms brought by Pakistan,\u201d the prime minister went on saying.<\/p>\n

Pakistan joined Board of Peace under UNSC Resolution 2803. In a message posted on the social media platform ‘X’, formerly known as Twitter, Ishaq Dar said, “Pakistan announces its decision to join the Board of Peace (BoP) in support of the Gaza Peace Plan under UNSC Resolution 2803”.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif joined other world leaders on Thursday in signing the founding charter for the \u201cBoard of Peace,\u201d a new international body chaired by US President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

The ceremony took place at the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, with representatives from 19 countries present to endorse the initiative.<\/p>\n

Originally designed to oversee stability in Gaza following Israel\u2019s two-year war on the enclave, the board\u2019s charter now envisions a wider mandate to resolve international conflicts. Pakistan accepted Trump\u2019s invitation to join on Wednesday, signalling support for the platform, with country\u2019s top military commander Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also attending the signing ceremony.<\/p>\n

BOARD OF PEACE<\/strong><\/p>\n

Trump, who serves as chairman, addressed the assembly, describing the attendees as \u201cin most cases very popular leaders, in some cases not so popular. That\u2019s the way it goes in life.\u201d He emphasised that the board would work \u201cin conjunction\u201d with the United Nations, countering criticisms that it aims to rival the UN.<\/p>\n

Leaders and senior officials from Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Hungary, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Mongolia, Morocco, Paraguay, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, the UAE, and Uzbekistan signed the charter alongside Trump.
