ST. PETERSBURG (Shahid Ghumman): Pakistan’s Ambassador to Russia, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, met the President of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Vladimir Katenev, and representatives of the local business community, during which the prospects for further promoting bilateral trade, investment and business contacts between Pakistan and Russia were discussed in detail.<\/p>\n
According to details issued by the Pakistani embassy, Irina Karpenko, Director of the Foreign Relations Department of the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, also attended the meeting.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi stressed the importance of strengthening direct contacts between the business enterprises of Pakistan and Russia, saying that there are wide prospects for increasing cooperation between the traders and investors of the two countries.<\/p>\n
The Pakistani ambassador informed Russian business figures of Pakistan’s export potential and said that Pakistan has the capability to supply quality products to international markets in several sectors, including textile products, rice, medicines and surgical instruments.<\/p>\n
He also highlighted the prospects for joint business ventures and investment between Pakistan and Russia in agriculture, food processing, engineering and modern technology.<\/p>\n
Faisal Niaz Tirmizi said that St. Petersburg is an important industrial and trade centre of Russia, with a strong industrial base and a wide business network. According to him, the city can play an important role in bringing the business enterprises of Pakistan and Russia closer to each other and in creating new trade opportunities.<\/p>\n
The Pakistani ambassador stressed the need to further activate direct contacts between the companies of the two countries, mutual visits of business delegations and institutional cooperation between chambers of commerce.<\/p>\n
Representatives of the St. Petersburg business community also presented their views at the meeting and discussed practical ways of increasing trade relations with Pakistan.<\/p>\n
The sides exchanged views on various proposals related to promoting business contacts and exploring trade opportunities in areas of mutual interest.<\/p>\n
According to the Pakistani embassy, the meeting is part of Pakistan’s continued diplomatic and trade efforts to strengthen economic partnership with Russia, in which direct business contacts between different regions of the two countries and trade cooperation at the regional level are being given special importance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
