MOSCOW (Voice of Russia): Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu has said that the collective West is rapidly declining, while efforts to weaken Russia from within and damage its state foundations continue.<\/p>\n
Shoigu said in his address at the opening ceremony of the International Week of the Peoples of Russia on November 2 that Western countries are becoming the centre of the worst moral ills of human society, that the basic concepts of human rights and freedoms there have lost their original importance, and that these rights are being used to damage the social fabric and promote all kinds of irregularity.<\/p>\n
He said that in the West, the trend of treating someone as guilty on the basis of an accusation instead of justice is growing, presenting evidence is not even considered necessary to accuse someone, and this same behaviour has become common in international relations as well.<\/p>\n
Western efforts against Russia becoming more aggressive<\/strong><\/p>\n Shoigu claimed that with the successful conclusion of the military operation in Ukraine and growing prospects of Russian success, opposition to Russia from Western countries is becoming more aggressive and complex, and efforts continue to recruit, financially support and back those who wish to harm the Russian state from within. According to Shoigu, Russia has faced external attacks, seizure of resources and attempts to subjugate its people many times in the past, but the Russian people have always confronted these attempts united.<\/p>\n Russia has no plan to attack Europe<\/strong><\/p>\n He made it clear that Russia does not intend to destroy any country or attack Europe, that some former colonial powers are themselves declining due to their internal problems, and that growing self-awareness and the consciousness of the right to self-determination among the peoples of former colonial countries is affecting the global standing of the old colonial powers. He said the West always needs an enemy, although President Vladimir Putin has made it clear several times over the past two months that Russia will not attack Europe.
