MOSCOW (Voice of Russia): Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said Moscow is ready to hear the proposals of US negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, but Russia will make no political concessions of any kind.<\/p>\n
Speaking during a meeting with university graduates joining the diplomatic service for the first time, the Russian foreign minister said it has become a political tradition in US presidential history, and a generally accepted practice, that a new president is not bound by the decisions of his predecessor.<\/p>\n
According to Sergey Lavrov, this is a strong political method that can be used as a bargaining tool in talks with Russia. Through it, US President Donald Trump’s special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner could continue visiting Russia and presenting proposals on various matters.<\/p>\n
The Russian foreign minister said Moscow will see what proposals the US negotiators present. If their proposals turn out to be economically and financially beneficial for Russia, they could be considered for acceptance.<\/p>\n
However, Sergey Lavrov made clear that no political concession will be given by Russia in return for any such possible cooperation.<\/p>\n
He added that Russia should also not expect a political situation to arise in world affairs that is favourable to it in every respect.<\/p>\n
The Russian foreign minister stressed that to protect its interests and maintain its position in world affairs, Russia must rely only on its own capabilities and resources.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
