MOSCOW (Voice of Russia): The Ukrainian Air Force has admitted that because necessary intelligence information was not received from Western partners in time, Ukraine’s air defense failed to detect the flight of Russian ballistic missiles in time and take action against them.<\/p>\n
Yuriy Ihnat, spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, said that the necessary information about the flight of Russian ballistic missiles was not received from Western partners on time. He blamed technical problems for this, saying that such an incident had not happened for the first time.<\/p>\n
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the ballistic missiles were detected while the attack on Kiev was underway, and the Ukrainian radar system identified the targets itself.<\/p>\n
On the evening of October 12, Ukrainian media reported that explosions were heard in Kiev before an air raid warning was issued.<\/p>\n
Later, Volodymyr Zelensky also confirmed that before the overnight explosions, Ukraine had not received intelligence information from its partners. He described intelligence sharing as an extremely important issue for Ukraine.<\/p>\n
Yuriy Ihnat said that experts will investigate the incident and Western partners will be contacted to resolve the issue.<\/p>\n
The Center for Countering Disinformation, working under Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, said that the reasons for the disruption in the transmission of intelligence data on Russian ballistic missiles are being reviewed.<\/p>\n
According to the Center, one possibility under consideration is that the supply of intelligence information to Ukraine may have been suspended, although this has not been officially confirmed.<\/p>\n
Politico had reported that US President Donald Trump could stop the supply of US intelligence to Ukraine or pressure Elon Musk to cut off the Starlink satellite internet service.<\/p>\n
The Financial Times, citing unnamed European officials, claimed that the US administration is threatening to suspend the weapons procurement program and the supply of intelligence to Ukraine.<\/p>\n
However, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha has said that Kiev continues to receive intelligence information from the United States.
