Following missile and drone attacks by Yemen’s Houthis on Abha and King Khalid International Airports, numerous flights arriving in and departing from the Saudi capital Riyadh have been cancelled.<\/p>\n
According to Gulf News, after two airports were targeted in Saudi Arabia over the past few days, several international and local airlines have cancelled or postponed flights to Riyadh.<\/p>\n
Singapore Airlines has postponed its plan to start new flights to Riyadh until March 28. Philippines Airlines has also cancelled flights to the Saudi capital until at least October 11.<\/p>\n
Besides Saudi Arabia’s national carrier Saudia, Egypt Air, IndiGo and Air India also cancelled dozens of flights departing from Riyadh on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Similarly, air operations at King Khalid International Airport were repeatedly suspended for several hours over the past few days and resumed when the situation improved.<\/p>\n
Due to the Houthis’ continuous aerial attacks, the biggest challenge for Saudi authorities is ensuring safe landing and take-off of aircraft at the airports.<\/p>\n
Abha Airport, located in the southwestern region of Saudi Arabia, has also been hit by recent attacks, further disrupting normal air travel in the region.<\/p>\n
It should be noted that 3 people, including two women, were killed and 36 injured in the attacks on Saudi Arabia’s Abha International Airport and Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
