MOSCOW (Voice of Russia): Russian President Vladimir Putin did not receive any congratulatory messages from US leader Donald Trump on his 74th birthday, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.<\/p>\n
TASS has compiled the key statements made by the Russian presidential spokesman.<\/p>\n
Peskov told reporters that the exact timing of a potential Putin-Trump telephone conversation has yet to be agreed. “As soon as the exact timing of a conversation is agreed and it [the phone call] takes place, we will let you know. We will not conceal anything,” he said. He added that there has been no delay in arranging the call.<\/p>\n
Speaking on the prospects of a Ukraine settlement, Peskov said Moscow is grateful to New Delhi for its interest in resolving the Ukraine conflict and welcomes the efforts of any country that can contribute to resolving the situation around Ukraine or help urge the Kiev regime and the Europeans to bring it onto a peaceful track. He noted, however, that no peaceful settlement of the Ukraine conflict is in sight at present.<\/p>\n
Peskov stressed that Russia maintains a settlement in Ukraine must be comprehensive, as piecemeal measures will not suffice. He added that Moscow believes agreements on Ukraine must be guaranteed for generations to come and safeguarded against collapse, adding that the president has repeatedly spoken about this. A freeze of the Ukrainian conflict will not help resolve it either, he argued.<\/p>\n
On Iran’s possible withdrawal from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, the Kremlin spokesman said the issue could come up during talks between President Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the upcoming CIS summit, though he cautioned that lawmakers’ statements are not always in line with the country’s actual foreign policy plans.<\/p>\n
On the CIS, Peskov said the Commonwealth of Independent States has proved beneficial for its member countries over the decades and has paved the way for more advanced forms of integration. He announced that Putin will meet with all participants of the upcoming CIS summit in Turkmenistan on the sidelines of the event.<\/p>\n
