Islamabad (Voice of Russia): Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has strongly criticised the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf provincial government over rising terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying the time for important decisions has come and the province cannot be left at the mercy of incompetent rulers.<\/p>\n
In a statement on X, Khawaja Asif said the PTI provincial government continues to show complete indifference and criminal apathy towards terrorism in the province, adding that enough is enough.<\/p>\n
He said that while the PTI provincial government is busy with its so-called failed political long march, the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are facing a new wave of terrorism, noting that on October 6 terrorists killed 5 innocent people in Dera Ismail Khan, including 2 customs officials.<\/p>\n
According to Khawaja Asif, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister and the entire provincial cabinet remain oblivious to this grave situation and are engaged in political activities. He said the provincial government did not even condemn the killing of those who died in Dera Ismail Khan nor expressed condolences to the bereaved families.<\/p>\n
He alleged that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister has summoned a meeting to reprimand the IG Police and the chief secretary for attending the governor’s security meeting. Khawaja Asif said the people of the terrorism-hit province have been left at the mercy of terrorists, which is why protests are taking place against the provincial government in various areas.<\/p>\n
The federal defence minister said that a lot of blood of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been shed and this situation cannot be tolerated any longer. He accused the PTI government of alleged collusion and facilitation with terrorists, saying that numerous evidence and examples in this regard have come to light over the past three years.<\/p>\n
Referring to the PML-N’s time in opposition, Khawaja Asif said that during the PTI government’s tenure, Nawaz Sharif, his family and the PML-N leadership remained imprisoned, yet the PML-N played its role in parliament with constitutional responsibility and fought legal and constitutional battles in courts and parliament.<\/p>\n
He said the time for important decisions has come and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cannot be left at the mercy of incompetent and apathetic rulers any longer.
