Lahore (Muhammad Shehryar Shahid): A significant development has emerged for journalists in Gujranwala as the Punjab government has issued a cheque of Rs 5 million for the Gujranwala Press Club, while the proposed Gujranwala Media Town project has also been included in the government\u2019s priority list.<\/p>\n

The progress came during a meeting between a delegation of the Gujranwala Press Club and Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari. The delegation included Press Club President Rana Ansar Shahzad, General Secretary Sardar Zeeshan Tahir, Senior Vice President Shafqat Imran, and PFUJ Vice President Raja Habib-ur-Rehman. Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari was also present, along with Punjab Secretary Information Tahir Raza Hamdani.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, Information Minister Azma Bukhari handed over a cheque worth Rs 5 million to the Gujranwala Press Club, which is being seen as a major relief for the journalist community.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, Press Club President Rana Ansar Shahzad formally submitted a written request for the establishment of a Media Town in Gujranwala. The minister approved the request in principle and assured that she would seek formal approval from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and ensure that the project is executed on a priority basis.<\/p>\n

The Information Minister stated that the government aims to provide housing facilities to journalists in Gujranwala similar to those available in Lahore and Islamabad, enabling them to perform their professional duties more effectively.<\/p>\n

Journalistic circles have welcomed the development and expressed hope that the Media Town project will soon be materialized.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
