Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with Syrian Interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa, highlighting the progress made in bilateral relations since the Syrian leader’s visit to Moscow last October.
Putin noted that significant efforts have been made to strengthen Russian-Syrian cooperation, particularly in the economic sector, and said that the relationship between the two countries has historically been stable, with no major setbacks since Syria’s independence.
“Thanks to ongoing efforts and evolving circumstances, the ties between Russia and Syria are steadily developing,” Putin said. He added that both countries have planned joint initiatives in industry, sports, healthcare, and construction.
On the issue of Syria’s territorial integrity, the Russian president reiterated that Moscow consistently supports the full restoration of Syria’s borders and backs the efforts of the Syrian authorities. “We have closely followed your work on restoring Syria’s territorial integrity and congratulate you on the progress achieved so far,” he said.
Putin also referred to the integration of the Transeuphrates region as a key step toward full territorial unification and expressed hope that it will further strengthen Syria’s sovereignty. He emphasized that Russian construction companies are prepared to contribute to rebuilding efforts, ensuring collaboration in infrastructure and development projects across Syria.
