DOHA (Voice of Russia): Yemen’s Ansarullah movement, the Houthis, have claimed attacks on Saudi Aramco’s energy installations and on the international airports of Riyadh and Dammam in Saudi Arabia.
According to Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree, four major attacks were carried out over the past 24 hours with the help of ballistic and cruise missiles and drones. He said that in eastern Saudi Arabia, a Saudi Aramco gas processing plant at Shadqam and an oil installation in Tanjib were targeted, after which fires broke out there.
Yahya Saree claimed the Houthis also attacked Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport and Dammam’s King Fahd International Airport. According to him, air traffic was suspended at both airports, while Riyadh airport was completely shut down.
The Houthi spokesman further claimed that six ballistic missiles targeted the locations of Saudi military personnel in Ras Al-Ara and Al-Saqya, killing or wounding dozens of people. These claims have not been immediately confirmed by Saudi authorities.
According to Yahya Saree, these operations were carried out in response to 124 air strikes by Saudi-led coalition forces on Yemen over the past 24 hours.
Earlier, the spokesman of the Saudi-led coalition, Turki Al-Maliki, had said that an unknown missile hit the passenger terminal of Riyadh’s international airport, causing a fire.
According to Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation, 12 people were killed and 309 injured in the Houthi attack on Riyadh airport on October 10.
The Houthis have urged international airlines and passengers not to use Saudi airports, declaring them targets of their attacks.
